Where is wireless Internet service available?
For our coverage area map, just click here.

How does wireless compare with cable and DSL?
Wireless is able to be deployed in a broad range of locations since Dotnet controls placement of base stations. This allows for wireless to be available in some rural areas that cable and DSL simply do not service. Wireless also provides full duplex, which means the upload and download speeds are the same. With cable connections full duplex is not available, and may be available only up to certain speeds with DSL.

Can existing Dotnet customers keep their current logins and e-mail addresses?
Yes.

Is the connection always on?
Your wireless connection is always on.

Do I need a phone line?
No. Wireless Internet service does not use phone lines.

Will I ever get a busy signal?
Since there is no need for a phone line, and no need to dial-in, you will never get a busy signal.

Can I get wireless Internet service if I rent or lease my residence?
Yes. You will need to get permission from the owner of the property prior to the installation of service.

Do I need to be at my residence for the installation, and how long does it take?
Someone at least 18 years of age does need to be present during the installation. A typical installation takes between 2-3 hours, depending upon the site.

Who does the installation?
Dotnet's professional installation team installs and maintains all of the wireless Internet service equipment.

Can I use any type of computer?
Yes. Any computer that is capable of making an Ethernet connection can be used.

Is special software needed?
Windows XP does not require any other hardware or software. Other operating systems may require software or a router. A router is also necessary if connecting multiple computers, and is a good idea in any instance, due to firewall capabilities.

Is there an antenna placed on the roof?
The antenna and/or radio is typically mounted on a small bracket that attaches to an eave or other high point on a building. Installations on a tripod on top of buildings, and attached to television antennas are other common methods we use for installations.

How long after order is placed will service be working?
Installations are currently being scheduled within two weeks from receipt of order.

I'm a current Dotnet dial-up customer, do I have to wait for my contract renewal date to get wireless service?
No. Dotnet will pro-rate any prepaid services you are currently receiving, so you can upgrade to wireless internet service at any time.

Can I get a static IP address?
Yes. Static IPs are available at an additional charge. Please contact us for further information.

What happens if I move?
You will need to inform Dotnet of your move from your present location. We can then schedule a time to disconnect service from the current location and re-install it at the new location, assuming it is within our coverage area. There will be a moving charge for this service. If you are moving outside the coverage area, please consult the contract for specific information.
