The "off season" (non-racing) is spent on projects and activities in keeping with the goals of the organization. The club began a long-term project in the Fall of 2002 — the restoration of a 1966 Ford F100 pick-up truck. The truck was donated to the club by Jim Green. It had sustained body damage when a tree had fallen onto it during a storm. The truck was to be disassembled, down to the frame. This was the work done during the first off-season. The students are learning about tools and how to use them, mechanical work, autobody repair, and automotive systems (not to mention cooperation and teamwork).
