The Racing Squad Car actually spent its first life as a squad car with the Clintonville Police Department. It is a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice with well over 100,000 service miles on the chassis. The first year of competition (1997) was with its original 350 cubic inch "roller motor" (freshened). This picture depicts its appearance after the students converted it from a tired squad car to a race car.

The winter of 1997-98 was time for adding more "grunt" to improve performance. Through the efforts of Gary Wiese, proprietor of Automotive Specialties of Neenah, a 454 cubic inch "big block" Chevrolet motor was obtained. The motor was installed and the appearance of the car was changed as student-made fiberglas bumpers replaced the original, heavy steel bumpers.

The Racing Squad was given another makeover during the winter of 2000-01, which included a roll cage and a new paint job to remove the marks of five years of wear and tear. Steinke Auto Body, Clintonville, provided the paint. This is the current appearance of the Racing Squad.
