From the Duluth Herald, Thursday, October 24, 1912: C.E. Judd passed away this morning at an early hour, after an illness of about three weeks, at his home, 10 Chester Terrace. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, all of whom were at his bedside when the end came. His daughters are Mrs. Charles Thornton, Mrs. Lucia J. McAuliffe and Mrs. A. H. Davis all of Duluth. He leaves also a brother and sister in San Francisco, Cal. Mr. Thornton, who is in business in Winnipeg is expected sometime today or tomorrow morning.
Mr. Judd was 67 years old and has been in the printing business for twenty-six years. He was born in Fredonia, N. Y., and comes of an old Puritan family, whose progeniter arrived in America and settled in New England in 1633.
The funeral will take place Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from the Cathedral of Sacred Heart, Second Avenue.

Decedent Was Well Known in Duluth, Where He Resided for Many Years.

The funeral of C. E. Judd, whose death occured early yesterday morning will take place Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart to Calvary Cemetery.
The demise of Mr. Judd has taken from Duluth one of its oldest employing printer, he having been one of the most prominent masters of the trade in the state. For years he had been the official printer of the Catholic Diocese of Duluth.
His family is one of the best known in the city and is one of those whose progenitor was of the original Puritan stock that settled in New England in 1863. The late Bishop Shanley of Fargo, N.D., was a brother-in-law.

Clarence married 1 Julia A. Shanley daughter of John F. Shanley and Nancy (Ann) McLean on 10 Aug 1869 in St. Paul, MN. Julia was born 2 on 4 Aug 1849 in Albion Barre, Orleans County, NY. She died 3 on 4 Jan 1925 in Duluth, MN.
